The Bagmati River Cleanliness Drive is an ambitious and large-scale volunteer initiative aimed at cleaning and reviving the Bagmati River in Nepal. The mega campaign has completed its 12th year. So far, more than 20 thousand metric tons of garbage has been cleaned from Bagmati River. More than 15 lakh people have contributed towards this campaign. The festival director is Chandra Bahadur Chand. He has also contributed to the film industry. He is organizing this festival with the hope that the festival will promote local art and culture. He said, "Our aim is to introduce Karnali Province and present the province as a suitable film shooting location." He further said that they are organizing this festival in view of the need to promote tourism through films.
