The 643rd Bagmati Cleanliness Mega Campaign was held successfully on Saturday at Unpark, Lalitpur, with the inspirational motto “Two hours of volunteer service for the nation every week.” The campaign again brought people from all sections of society together in a common mission to bring back and preserve the ancient Bagmati River.

The project was envisioned and carried out by the Bagmati River Cleanup Committee, who have been spearheading this cause for over a decade. Government officials, volunteers, residents, students, and river activists took part with enthusiasm in the clean-up drive, showing the heightened sense of responsibility and ownership on the part of the people.

Prakash Aryal, Head of the Empowered Bagmati Committee, among others, and veteran campaigner attended the event. Their presence not only provided an extra fillip to volunteers’ spirit but also underlined the necessity of sustained government and civil society participation in revitalizing the Bagmati.

During the program period, the organizers expressed gratitude to each of the participants for their consistent commitment. The organizers also appreciated the concretely realized development so far—from reduced waste accumulation in key areas to enhanced awareness of the public towards river conservation.

Renewing their pledge, the committee promised to continue working on this people’s movement until the Bagmati River again becomes the epitome of natural beauty and purity. Their shared dream is to make the river a cultural asset, an ecological equilibrium, and an inspiration for future generations.
